Hello!
A friend of mine has a full bandolier of original .30-40 Krag ammunition he wants to sell.  Niether of us has any idea what it's worth.  It was made by Remington-UMC and dated 1917.  The bandolier has the full sixty rounds it came with.  If anyone is interested, make an offer and I'll pass it along.  This would be collector stuff, and not to shoot, as brass from that period seems to be pretty brittle.  Of course, it's full metal jacket and corrosive.  Thanks!

It would be neat to have as an accessory to your Victorian uniform presentation. Is it sturdy enough to be worn?

Not with the rather large '1917' date on it, it wouldn't.

There are a lot of those Krag bandoleers out there dated 1917-1918 - that ammunition was about a penny a round back then, and Uncle Sam was pushing it out the door, since the Krag was obsolete - but 'very' few with pre-1900 dates.

The best use of this particular bandoleer would be as a WWI-era State Guard or Home Guard, since they were outfitted in obsolete uniforms and weaponry.

These bandoleers are exactly like the ones you see today - pouches and a thin strap - so if someone needed to replicate one for use, all he'd need would be khaki cloth and a stencil.

The difficulty would come with figuring out the 5-round clip, since .30 Government is a rimmed cartridge.

The ammo could be repackaged in a period correct bandolier?  I would be interested in the ammo at a reasonable price.
