I should know this.
When I have the hammer on half cock the cylinder will turn backwards.
Shouldn't the hand prevent this? If so then the hand is a bit short.
I've hand this gun for a short while and have shot it, shoots fine but this doesn't seem right.

Doc,

What model gun?   (My guess is a pocket revolver)
Top-Break or solid-frame model?
Double or single action type?
Any other symptoms or description of the issue?

This could be SOP for some of the ol' pocket guns.

Slim

It is normal for the cylinder to spin both directions when the hammer is at half-cock.

It is normal for a Schofield cylinder to turn in both directions at half cock.  Turning it counter clockwise can result in the ejector un-screwing making it so the action can not be closed.

If you've ever tried to remove the ejector assembly from an UIberti Schofield, you wouldn't worry about it unscrewing itself by spinning the cylinder backwards.....
