This is a rare Circa late 1870's-1880's vintage tintype photograph of a well-dressed hunter posing with a nearly mint condition Winchester 1876 Rifle with a round barrel. Original period photos like this are far scarcer than finding an actual 1876 rifle. In several years of actively searching for original photos of 19th century firearms, I've been fortunate to have found 4 photos with 1876 Winchesters...far fewer than the numbers of 76 rifles I've seen during the same timeframe. The photo measures 2" x 4" in good condition with a slight crease in the middle of the tin. The man is well-dressed wearing a vest, tie, and hat. Although this photo was taken inside a studio or perhaps a tent, his boots look muddy like he's been out hunting. He's wearing what appears to be a Canvas Mills cartridge belt with a US marked belt buckle. Typical of these old tintypes, the images are mirrored or....you can tell the the "US" on the buckle is reversed as is the side of his Winchester as the loading port should be on the right side.

I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I require the same of them."
