I have an original Colt, 41 Colt caliber, double action revolver, I believe it is called the Lightning model.  The trigger return spring is missing, and I have not been able to locate one. Does anyone know where I might find one.  If not, will the spring from a single action Colt work?

Give Dixie Gun Works a try.  I got parts there for a .38 Lightning many moons ago, springs and screws.

I cut Poppert's URL after the ".com/" and it came up fine. Whoo hoo! They have a pile of parts for my Winchester Model 74!

Check it out, under Specials they have:

COLT LIGHTNING SPRING SET
$24.50 postpaid
Contains one of each of the following:
Trigger spring, hand spring, strut spring, cylinder stop spring, ejector spring.
NOTE: These fit .38 and .41 caliber.

Thanks for the link, Pettifogger!

You'll need them if you have a Lightning.  I never saw a gun go so bad, so fast, or so often.  Had two gunsmiths tell me flat out they didn't want to see the little SOB again.  That's why I finally sold it.  Probably should have kept it as a wall hanger or paper weight.

Thanks 40, I haven't shot this one yet....It's a shame them things is sure sweet looking and have a good feel but, have such a bad reputation.  Let see kind of like the Colt lightning rifles ::)

Most of the parts in a Colt 1877 are hand fit. Most new parts will need to be fitted to make work. I had four come into the shop, all in parts, with a request to assemble them. I got two together fairly fast but the other two took months before I got the bugs out. I did not work on them full time but they were such a pain I was wondering why I excepted the job.
