Schofield load ?

I'm looking at reproducing a 45 schofield round with a biglube.
I'm thinking about using the JP 45-200 or the DD/ROA 45-210 bullet.
For those that have use either or both of these bullets, which did you all like the best?
Or does it really mater? 10 grs. is not much difference.

I see your out of both at this time Dick but they will be in soon.

J/P 45-200s will likely be here tomorrow. I have a UPS tracking number that says that. Many are committed to back orders, but I did order enough that I will have some inventory. The DD/ROA-II mold will be a while yet. I need to test and prove the prototype. The drawing and the math all claim good things. The proof is in the shooting. That one's several weeks out yet. I'll sell no mold before it's proven.

Yes, I'm manufacturing my own Big Lube® LLC molds now. It's a long story and a good read. The saga will be in the next issue of the Big Lube Bulletin.

In my experience the 200's work well in Schofields.

I am using the Scofield brass and the jp200 in my Rugers. Also use the jp200 in standard 45 Colt brass
in my Rossi 92. Wish the Scofield round would work in the 92. Regards, TJ

PRS molds will be here next. Two weeks max. 38-55s about a month out yet. FYI, my own mfg 38-55s will be in spec. Nuff said.

If you plan on running these in a rifle you may not want to use the Round Nose DD-ROA.

Howdy Slim,

The new DD/ROA-II will have a flat metplat. It'll also have a double rebate, one at .444 and another at .450, then the driving band and finally the Big Lube® grove. The new nose will fit the ROA rammer but it will also allow use in rifles. This may be the most versatile Black Powder bullet mold I've ever offered. I'll be testing the prototype soon and will report back. My new manufacture allows me to make prototypes to test before placing a quantity order.

Would they work well in a Schofield? Probably.

If you use soft lead bullets and a Lyman style sizer, just put those DD-ROAs through the sizing die using a flat top punch and it puts a meplat on them just big enough to be safe in a tube fed rifle. I do it, and it they work great in my Henry.

I'm kind of partial to the J/P 45-200 bullet myself in a Schofield case. I put in enough FFg so that it will be compressed about 1/16" when the bullet is seated and crimped. The actual weight of the powder will vary by brand, not all BP weighs the same. I seem to remember it is somewhere around 28 grains. This is my normal load in my R&D cylinder equipped Remmies.
