Fingers,  Who was the manufacturer of the 2nd and 3rd models (generation) of Colt BP revolvers? Will post this on other boards also as I need the info "yesterday".  See Ya in Branson next week.

The 2nd Gens were made primarily from Uberti parts but fit and finished in the U.S. by Colt or a subcontractor.  They are considered real "Colts."  There is technically no such thing as a 3rd Gen cap and ball.  People seem to confuse them with the Signature series.  Colt licensed the "Colt" name for the Signature series, but they had nothing to do with them.  Here's a history.

Sent you an email Larry. The 1974 vintage revolver you are asking about is a 2nd Generation 'C' Series '51 Navy (SN under 25000).  The grips on these are identical to a 2nd model '51 Navy, and are smaller than the 2nd Gen F Series, Sig Series, and current Uberti grips.  Their profile is in no way like a Pietta.

You gonna shoot at Branson this year?

Fingers,   I'll just be glad to be there as a vendor. Had a gas leak problem at our investment house and had to skip the KS State shoot this weekend. Got it fixed today and glad of it. Could just see a firey trench from tank to house as younger brother flipped a cigarette to the ground.
