Good morning gentlemen, coffee on this end is pretty strong, stronger than I normally make. Ned, I'm with you; the older I get the less I sleep (and the more tired I am). Getting old is for the birds!

Ned, you've been workin leather a long time. Do you use, or see value in a beader blade? There were quite a few of them in use at the Chan Geer class last week, and those who used them liked them a lot. Before taking this class, the general assumption I had of beader blades was that not many guys used them. Could you (or whoever wants to weigh in) comment on beader blades?

morning JD
ive got a ceramic beader blade and what little ive used it i like it a lot but it took quit a bit of workin over to get it to cut smoothly id much rather have had a steel one but the price was right on this one FREE lol but i think for holsters and doing a nice bead there a good investment and id be lookin at steel beader blade IMHO
mmmmmm coffee good

I've got a ceramic Tandy beader blade, but I haven't used it much, 'cause it's as dull as a butter knife, and I don't know what to do about the inside edges. I tried a couple of Barry King beader blades at Chan's class, but he was out of all but the skinny ones.

Jd i got a diamond stone and really worked over the outer edges got all the grind marks out the stroped it really well the took jewelers rouge and coated the smoot side of a piece of veg tanned leather and slowly made a cut with it to make the bead it takes a couple passes but once yet get a good bead going re rouge the cut and the just work the beader blade threw it several times and kepp making practice cuts on some scrape till it cuts like a hot knife threw butter

Howdy Pards,
JD, I need to sharpen my beader blade, and when WC was here he showed me how! Get you some good kite string and rub as much rouge on it you can, and then run it in the bead groove of your blade and keep working it untill you get it the way you want it! You may cut the string several times before you get it sharp, but I think WC advise me that this is a good way to do it!
Hope this helps!

JD, I like beader blades. I also got a Tandy one that needed a bunch of sharpening. I used the edge of a piece of leather to work down the inside edges. It works fine but I like my steel Beard one much better.

Here are a couple pics of a holster where I used the beader.

knucklehead

on my 5th cup of coffee now.

have a tandy ceramic beader blade as well. its so dull it wont cut butter.

i was able to get the 1/8" barry king beader blade for my al stohlman swivel knife.

glad that barry king made one to fit the tandy/al stohlman swivel knifes because i didnt want to not use it.
the al stohlman knife cost me 70 bucks on sale and i like the feel of it just didnt like the blade that came with it.
hope to call henley swivel knives up to see if he has blades that will fit the al stohlman swivel knife.
