There's been a lotta talk about this, but so far as I 've determined, there's been no vote.  So here's yer chance.  Which Remington NMA reproduction do you prefer?

Mulee Pete

Have both, shot both, worked on both, have cursed and praised both.   I guess pound for pound I'd go Pietta.

Uberti has the front sight dovetailed. Concidering my Pietta shoots 4" left you can imagine which one I choose for the poll  ;)

Professor Marvel

The Pietta fits my hand more better :-)

that added to part availability and incredibly good prices from Cabelas, offsets the minor disadvantedge of the front sight, which is easily remedied with a home-made triangular safe-file and a new sight readily manufactured by hand ( and help from the grinding wheel) from a bit of scrap bar stock.

I have the same opinion and experiences.  I have both the shooters model and target model Pietta and both have the reliability of a quality center fire revolver.

I own the Pietta but the Uberti's hammer is easier for me to reach.

Same here.  I own a pair of Uberti and a pair of Pietta NMA's, and find that the Uberti pistols fit my hands perfectly.  Its a big-time stretch to reach the hammer on my Piettas, particularly for my right hand (I'm left-handed).

So far, it looks like a two-to-one preference for Pietta over Uberti, but that is subject to considerable change yet.

Valid point

Living within 30 minutes from a Cabelas, it's nice to go to the actual storefont and buy one of these guns. The quality control has been rather poor from Uberti (walker) and Pietta (1858). Of 4 boxed revolvers I looked at, only 1 was in proper working order at the store. You really take a big gamble going through the mail --- particularlly when you're like me and don't know how to fix the minor issues  ::)

I must say I concurr completely regarding the handling of the revolvers in person, it allows one to try them all, and not accept any if there are any issues. However Monsieur Reb, I am certain you sell yourself short - I am willing to wager that if your were provided with a proper set of screwdrivers, a good set of files and stones, and a 15 pound sledgehammer you would be able to break revolvers as well as the rest of us :-)

I've had both & I will admit they both shoot wonderfully but the Pietta fits my hand better than the Uberti & so far I've got a 25 year old & a 3 year old Pietta & they both have been as reliable as any modern catridge firearm that I've ever had or used & with the price that you can acquirte one at, if the Pietta fit's the hand why not.
