I need to load some blanks. What size would the flash hole have to be enlarged to?

Why would you need to enlarge the flash hole?
All I do with my blanks is ensure that the cardboard wad is compressing the powder as tight as I can before sealing it.
( I don't use a crimp closure).
If the standard flash hole is sufficient to ignite a bulleted cartridge then it should be ok for a blank.

In revolvers an undrilled blank cartridge will sometimes tie the gun up due to the primer backing out. For some reason drilling the flash hole large helps prevent this from happening. (sorry I don't recall what size drill bit to use)

Now that is a good reason and may explain why I have had that very problem,  to the effect that the primer has become impaled on the firing pin, locking the pistol up solid!
I bow to your greater wisdom, and will put aside some cases for modification,,,now,,,wheres that Black & Decker???

When I made my blank cases, I just went to an eyeball size that was not so big the primer cup would go thru the case, and bigger than what was there. Never had any problems after that.
Just be sure to file a notch into the case head or something to identify them as for blanks. Probably not good to use them as regular rounds after that.

Boys, I was there. I didn't get to shoot the blanks Filthy made, but they were loud. He wasn't able to shoot the match. I wish I could have asked him the formula he came up with. I saw what they looked like and he used full 12ga hulls. I don't know how much of the hulls he used.
I almost think the were duplex. They had a sharp crack to them, but they smoked too. I am real curious. They were used after the pledge of allegience which was played over the speakers and was the recording by John Wayne. Then about 6 shooters blasted away with the blanks to start the match. Worked good and gave a bit of old west feel to the start. I liked it.

Thanks for the info. The drill size is 9/64".
Howdy those shotgun blanks were 70g. These are for pistols.
