One Line Vs. Two Line USFA Barrel Address

Some USFA revolvers have a one line address on the top of the barrel:

U.S.F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.

Others have a two line barrel address:

     U. S. F. A.  MFG.  Co.
     HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.

1.  Why are there two types of addresses?
2.  Is there a difference in the model of revolvers that use the different addresses?
3.  Was a change made in the address on a specific date?
4.  Is it simply a function of barrel length?  For example, all of my 4-3/4 inch barreled USFA revolvers have 2-line addresses and all of my 5-1/2 inch and 7-1/2 inch barreled USFA revolvers have 1-line addresses.

Any information you may have on this address difference would be appreciated.

J.D.,
The addresses are standard for those barrel lengths.  4&3/4 gets the two line, longer barrels get the one line.  USFA is merely replicating Colt's original style of barrel marking.
