I had to try it.

Last week I took my Springfield out into the NZ bush for a days hunting.

The prey was Sika deer.

Took all day but finally managed to find a few of these deer.

Lay down at about 150 metres and took aim with the old rifle.

A 535 gn bullet over 64 gns of FFg left the barrel and resulted in a one shot kill on a nice hind.

Supprised me how fast that animal dropped. Didnt even stagger.

It was a side on shot straight through the heart\lungs and out the other side.

Sitting in my freezer now is a lot of dressed venison.

I can see how these bullets would drop a buffalo now. They strike with one hell of a lot of force.

Congrats to you . Sounds like a great day. I have a H&R officers Model that I am going to take to the woods this year. What bullet are you pushing?
Enjoy ...Ribs and garlic sauce on the BBQ . Nothing finer , well a glass of single malt to finish it off.
