Picked up an elk antler at a local shop, the straight part spoke to me as a quirt, the crown made a nice knife.
Start, pieced out.

holes prepared and rawhide cut

First rawhide wrap, wool ripped out and I decided to continue.  Didn't like it, ripped it off.

Finshed, complete with Red Wool, a few more tacks, feathers on the wrist thong.

Howdy Magonila,
That Is AWESOME!! :o :o :o I want to ask a question, and you don't have to answer, but if you could, what did you pay for that elk antler?
Thanks

No problem.  The antler was $22 at Whispering Winds in Independence Missouri.  I bought it in Mid April.    I also got the elk sinew there, but forgot what I paid for it.  I thought it was a good price, even though my mother-in-law has given me about 10 shed white tail antlers in the last two years.   None of those were straight enough to make a good quirt.  I got the knife handle, the quirt, will probably make a patch knife and a powder measure out of the two small tines.  They are hit an miss on what they have.  A company I have gotten odds and ends from is Moscow Fur and Hide out of Moscow Idaho (www.hideandfur.com).  They are good to work with, at least two years ago they were.  If you tell them what you are looking for, they will hand pick it.
