Naming your guns...

Wild Bill Blackerby

I had named my Open Tops "Lefty" & "Righty" so I knew which one to yell at for missing (which Miss Lou will attest was the case at the MD Stampede one year).  Had Jim Downing engrave them.
When I got my Navy Conversions I had a contest for naming them - the winner was "Hope" & "Pray" as in "I hope to hit them all with this one, if not I pray with this one..."
Once again Jim did his thing...

Haven't named the long guns yet, but my Bike is named "Blue Belle".

When I was a Tank Troop leader I carried a SLR (FN/FAL) and my crew called it Owen (I was supposed to be carrying an Owen sub gun, but I prefered a rifle).

My crew and I called the main Armament on our Centurion 'Ma'.

I had a CZ75 9mm which my mates called the 'Army S&%t' because it was so sloppy.

I had an old P14 with a fat boy stock my friends called 'mudguts' because it had a speck of dried mud stuck on the stock.

My Remington made Mosin Nagant is called 'Ian the Yank'.

I had an M17 my late wife called 'Big Bertha'.

My 03' is called 'Sgt York'.

My 1911 is also called 'Sgt York'.

My 1866 Uberti in 44/40 is called 'croc' as it belonged to a friend who was a professional fisherman in the Northern territory many years ago and it has killed a lot of crocodiles.

My 3006 Interarms MkX with 2-7 Leupold and those fancy projectionless rings is now used by my son and he calls it 'Old Painless.'

I had a Ruger No1 in 220 Swift. It was called 'The Pink Mist' by my friends after I shot a roo in the head and it virtually vapourised it.

My IAC Chinese made Hammer Gun is called 'Migrant Factory Girl' in honour of the country girls who migrate to the cities to work in the Chinese factories.

My 1894 Marlin is called 'Plug' cause it is plug ugly.

My Mossberg 30/30 is called 'Mossy'. If the name Plug was available it probably would of won it, cause it is one homely looking gun.

My 1873 Uberti with $400 worth of slicking and short stroking done to it is called lots of things which I can't repeat here, cause I can't get it to work reliably, I think the gunsmith (well respected here, but I suppose we all drop the ball occasionally) has inadvertantly increased the headspace. Got another guy looking at it at the moment.

Cars:
My Nissan 4wd is called the 'Datto'. Nissans used to be Datsuns in Australia and Aussies called them Dattos.

I had a few Suzukis years ago which were called Suzy (very original, NOT).

My V6 auto Camry with air con and cruise control was called 'the magic carpet ride' because it was all so smooth and easy.

Kawasaki Motor Cycles:
Everyone calls my KLR650 Vulture because of it's bent front guard and v shaped headlights and the Lime Green ZRX1200R is either called Kermit or Frog Snot. MY old Black ZRX was called Black Betty and one of my sisters called it 'Bam a Lam!'
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!

Monty Python - I like the way you think!

Steel Horse Bailey

Thanks, pards!  I've called it Monty since 1982 when I bought the gun (and my Bonanza Co-ax loading press) with the Re-enlistment Bonus I got the 1st time I did the deed while in the Army.
