Rick, with your natural interest you will come out of the closet one day and learn to enjoy leather on another level.  I instructed one of my grandsons through the steps of belt making this summer and he is now wearing his summer project to school, proudly I might add.  I always tell fokes that there are two stages of holster making that I consider hard, pattern design and artistic decoration.  There is a small screw loose in my brain that keeps me from feeling that a pattern of mine is ever truly finished and I readily admit that I am a plowboy and not an artist and these are my scuses.  Starting with tools, more basic than you would imagine, you could make a holster that you would be proud of in one days time with just a bit of over the shoulder instruction.  Jump in, the water is great.  AND if you never jump, keep asking the questions cause some of those answers help me when they come.

GCR, even if you never pick up a leather tool, you are still welcome by my fire.
The way I look at it, you are free advertising! Just spread the word around that the Leather Shop forum is here, and get more folks in here to look, see, and possibly learn how to do their own leather.
Of course, if you want to start cuttin on a hide too, thats great!
