Standpat Steve

Interesting story, for a bunch of reasons, the ghost story angle, the sheer cussedness of the drive to survive, the long list of pioneers killed from that one small area by Commanches-thanks for posting the referral, Capt.

Margaret Wilbarger eventually married Talbert C. Chambers and lived to old age. Upon her death, she was buried beside Josiah.

I'm doin' to haf'ta do some research, to see if I might be related, but I don't think any of the Chambers clan moved beyond the Miss. until the 1900's.

El Peludo

A gripping, and poignant account.  Thanks.

One branch of my family was in "pre-war" Texas, although they settled in the northeastern part of the state.  Texas is well populated by the Hindman Family, today.
