Hi Chuck,

That holster is a very interesting piece and it would also be interesting to know its history and that of the man who commissioned it and used it.  It looks to me like this holster was intentionally made so close in design to the military issue holster that the officer who used it could safely wear it on duty without catching any criticism  for being out of uniform.  Of course the officer's rank would have a lot to do with that, too.  It appears to me (although that look may be just age) that the holster has seen a good measure of routine use in its day and was not purchased and then kept unused in a footlocker with a personal sidearm stuffed in it.  It is cleverly built to, as I said look very like the familiar military issue 1911 holster, yet be very elegantly individual.  The incorporation of the military brass emblems, either by the maker or the owner, makes it very striking.  Depending on its history, of course, I think this holster might be welcome in a military history museum.

It's exciting and I like it!  Can you shed some light on its history?

Thanks for the link, Chuck. That really is a cool design. I like the spiral keeper strap(s).
