1875 or 1890? Differences?

Capt'n Jack

I assume that the guns are identical inside, but could be wrong (after all I have been married 36 years so I am used to being wrong).  Why do you prefer one over the other?  Just wondering.

FYI, I think the 90 with lanyard ring is my choice.  Lets hear your choice.
Capt'n Jack was my great great grandfather, a Captain of the Ky Cavalry in the Civil War.  He lived to a ripe old age.

The 1875 is distinctive with the ejector housing support sail, the 1890 looks more like a Colt.  Depends on how different you want to be.  I removed the lanyard ring from my 1890, it interfered with my grip (pinky under the toe of the frame).  The 1890 is more likely to fit in a SAA holster.  I like the black frame, and in truth, the original Remington 1875 was blued, not color cased.  The hammer and loading gate were color cased on both revovers.

Most 1890's as marketed, or found on the dealer's shelf, seem to have 5-1/2 inch barels, and most 1875's have 7-1/2 inch barrels, though both are offered in both lengths.

Older Uberti 1875's have post front sights, current production have a blade.

I like the ejector rod sail, but never invested the money for the part to convert my 1890.
