Hey Everybody,

I was just wondering, is there anyway to cleaning the burn stains off the front of the cylinder of a Rodeo II?

I was told to shoot some BP through 'em, but no luck.

Trying to get 'em clean so I can sell them.

Thanks.
God forgives, I don't........

Cem,
I use a product called "Never Dull" that is available at most automotive stores.  Comes in a can.  It is cotton wadding, permeated with a cleaning/polishing compound.  Works great on my regular nickel plated guns.  I assume that it would work just as well on the Rodeo II finish.

You can't change the wind, but you can always change your sails.

Hi Y'all,

"3-in-1" oil and steel wool has always worked well for me, but I've never tried to spiff one up for selling.

Thanks for the tip about "Never Dull", Capt John.  I've been thrashing around looking for something I like for my nickel plated guns.  I'll give it a try.

Try Simichrome and a very soft cotton cloth for nickel.

I use flat stainless steel wool with any kind of light oil. Tried the regularwool, but it sometimes leaves fragments of soft wool that can easily rust and found that the flat edges of the stainless will even remove rust without removing bluing as it catches the rough spots and planes them off.

NEVER use steel wool on a nickel gun as it will scratch.  Use a milder copper mesh or brass wool and solvent.

I should have been more clear.

Never use anything other than the softest cotton and the least abrasive polish( on Nickel).

The flat wound stainless and oil should be used on blued or other hard surface finishes to remove powder burn and rust....never on a soft metal like silver gold or nickel.

Simichrome is the easiest and least abrasive polish I've found for soft metals.

WARNING!!! Nev'r Dull is a good product for nickel/brass etc, BUT it WILL take off the blue on a gun!!  I learned the hard way.  I use it to clean rust and stains off "in the white" parts as well as my replica muskets.

One of the companies that makes cleaning products like Birchwood Casey makes a waxy like cloth designed specifically for removing lead and powder burns from the fronts of cylinders. I see them offered at the gunshows all the time.

Yes, and it will remove blue RIGHT NOW. DO NOT use this on a blued gun. It is however the fastest thing for stainless guns.
