I need some additional assistance:

I've removed everything from the rifle except the buttstock and tube. Does the feeding tube have to come out before the buttstock can be removed? Or does the buttstock have to come off before the feeding tube can be removed?

I have been unable to remove the buttstock. Any help would be appreciated.    ;)

I believe that the butt stock has to come off before the magazine tube can be unscrewed from the receiver.  Take all the tang screws and lock screws out, remove the buttplate and if there is a threaded washer at the end of the tube, remove it, then tap the buttstock along the sides with a leather mallet and it should loosen up enough to slide off.

Thanks.

Several minutes before you replied, I figured it out. There is a threaded lock nut on the end of the tube. It has to be tapped counter clockwise with a punch very slowly. When it is removed the buttstock comes off. The tube is also threaded into the receiver and it can then be unthreaded.

In another post I was informed it needed to be tapped out. I thought the respondent meant it was sleeved onto the tube and only needed to be tapped from the tube end at the receiver (after the stock was removed) to have it come out. I misinterpreted the info.

This is really a simple gun to work on. I like it. ;D

I am just curious, that is all.

Why 'do' you want to remove the buttstock from your rifle or carbine?

I had some problems with rough surfaces on the carbine. The receiver where the tube is inserted also had some rough edges. I tried to hone them from the top of the receiver, but wanted to check the surface from the tube end to ensure smooth feeding.

Plus, I like to know all about my firearms and how to completely dissemble them. ;D

Once the locknut is removed it fell off.
