Didnt know whether ta post this here on on the Leather Shop, But I reckon its got more ta do with Smokepoles, Soooo decided on here!!

I got me 2 holsters from a pard `n` decided that I`d wet mold my 1851 (£10.00) Pietta to one and my rare Westerners Arms to the other.............

Did the usual, prepared the leather ( 15 sec. Dunk in warm water) Wrapped the two guns in plastic bags and commenced ta wet mold, as the leather was quite hard to mold I decided to keep the guns in the holsters overnight................. :)

Next morning I removed the £10.00 Pietta from the holster and then the plastic bag. Brill!!....... Beaut fit!!  ;D
Next the rare WA removed from the holster and then the plastic bag......... BLOODY HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o
FLASH RUST..... EVERYWHERE!!!,   :o luckily I managed to remove it On Very close inspection the other plastic bag had 6 small air holes in it!! that just did not show !!
Soooooooooooo........... moral of the story is Inflate ANY plastic bag that you are gonna use when wet moldin!! ::)

Hell-Er High Water

What I usually do is to coat the revolver with WD-40 and wrap it with several layers of Saran Wrap.

I put a WD-40 soaked patch over each side of the cylinder before the Saran Wrap so as to make the cylinder portion a little oversize for easier revolver removal from the holster.

This has worked for me in the past with no sign or rust after sitting overnight.

I don't want to step on any ones feet here, but when you wet mold your gun to the holster, DON'T use hot or warm water, you really damage your leather by doing this, use cold water right out of the tap, after it is thoroughly wet, and you have oiled your gun up, wrap it up in cling wrap or a strong plastic bag, I prefer the Cling wrap, stick you gun in the holster, move to wear it needs to be, then just move or twist it around a little, THEN DO YOUR MOLDING,  after you have shaped the holster the way you want, leave it in the holster for about 20 to 30 minutes, after this length of time the leathers memory takes over and the leather will stay the way you shaped it, then carefully remove your gun, and if you can hang it from a coat hanger that's been opened up and put through the holster then hook the hanger so the holster will dry from inside and the outside, keep your leather away from any heat source, and out of the sun, let it dry in a cool place for at least 24 hours, then condition the leather and apply a finish. Using hot or warm water draws the natural oils out of the leather, and in the long run shorten the life of your holster, leaving your gun in the holster over night will give you a nice fit in the morning, but it will get sloppy real quick, letting it set in the holster for 20/30 minutes will give you a nice fit, but your gun will stay in the holster and not fall out, that's why you don't see hammer thongs on period correct holsters, they didn't need them, also leaving the gun in for this short time will prevent any damage from rust or leaks, you wipe your gun down, and your done.
