Seems to me I saw an auction end a week or so ago for one at $76.  Still some at the online book stores for up to $400.  And there are a few at auctions in between those prices.  Any rumors of a new run of books?

I saw an earlier post where one was purchased for $13?  and someone said that was a good deal as his cost almost $200.

Just wondering if this is the time to buy or should folks wait for prices to go even lower?

I know his has been talked about before just checking to see if there was any new info.

Another book that has gone through the roof is David Chicoine's "Gunsmithing Guns of the Old West", as the second edition is out of print, and the third is looking for a publisher.  I've seen it for almost $200.

Given the fact that it was a single printing,  and then McDowell died - I seriously doubt it'll go lower.

The really low prices are anomalies - not an indicator of a downward trend in the pricing of first edition, limited run books.

If you run across one priced under $200 - $250 - by all means buy it on the spot.

I jumped on mine for under $100.  Just save a search in eBay, like I did, and you'll get a notice each time one comes up for auction.

As for Chicione's book, I wouldn't cry wolf just yet.  Alibris has them for $27.00:

If anyone is looking for a copy, I might be willing to let mine go, as I have no real need for it.  ::)
