Folks,

Please expand this list of movies that should form a basic collection for folks with an interest in GAF:

- Rough Riders
- 55 Days in Peking
- Gettysburg
- Gods & Generals
- She Wore A Yellow Ribbon
- Dances With Wolves

This is the merest start to a movie collection, but let us see what we can do...

Good suggestions, all...
With respect to 'Four Feathers' and 'The Charge of the Light Brigade', be sure to acquire all versions of each including the silent ones.
Another C.W. film of interest is 'Ride with the Devil' and many of the docu-dramas seen on History Channel should also be considered and are available for purchase if you haven't taped them off-air for personal viewing.

"The Wind and the Lion" (yeah, its set in 1902, but some cool action scenes - hey, it's John Mileus)

"Glory"

"Gods and Generals" if only for the battle scenes - the assault on Marye's Heights and the overrunning of the Yankee camp are great.

"Breaker Morant" (1899-1901 Boer War)

"Gunga Din"
All the previous posts used up all my other suggestions.

There was another, which I cannot remember the title, of the first Black cadet at West Point - any reminders?
I think it was set in the 1880's or 1890's

For comic relief - "Texas Across the River" ("To the roor, haar!")

A fun thing to do is to watch "Gunga Din", then watch "Sergeants Three" - same story, one set in India, one in Old West. "Sergeants Three" (a Brat Pack movie, with Frank, Dino, Sammy, Joey, et al) is no more historically accurate (troopers armed w/ Winchesters) than "Santa Fe Trail" but its a hoot.

First Black cadet at West Point? Hmm, the only one I could come up with was the TV movie: "Assault at West Point: The Court-Martial of Johnson Whittaker" Was that the one you meant?

Your skin is thick, but your hair isn't....
You can still draw a second glance from women... sadly it's only in pity
Your income is fixed...but you vertical hold isn't.... as it were ( so to speak)
