Have ya ever handled really old leather...ya  can just feel the history!!
Leather is a living thing, it takes from the touch of everyone, who has ever handled it.
From the shadows of your mind comes forward the cowboy, the gunfighter, the lawman, the outlaw!!
The trenches of WW1 and the beaches and hedgerows of WW2.
I love old leather!!
When I get the chance, I make it mine.
Ya can learn alot form it too.
Here's an old piece from F Mueller Denver #261 in great shape!!
Packin Iron pg 111 shows a cartridge belt from Fred Mueller 1885-1895.
Don't know, for sure or for certain if he's they same man!
But the carving style sure do look the same.

So do ya'll have any old leather to share?

You are right, old leather does have a lot of history you can feel.
That's a darn nice old holster.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

Bad, that is a beautiful piece of history. My only regret is not being able to hear the stories that go with it.

But ,on reflection , maybe it is almost as much fun to just imagine them.
Lost..... I ain't never been lost...... fearsome confused fer a month er two once... but I never been lost.

I have an old pair of cuffs I will have to take some pictures of. Kinda plain, with a nice little border around them. They are old, and yes, the history oozes.

Thats a nice looking one you have there BH.

That's a real beauty, BH. I like how it looks with that DA sticking out of it. You're right, old leather is like nothing else. Thanks for the pic.

I have an 1890 F.A. Meanea 14X saddle I am restoring, and just got an as-yet undated Montgomery Ward Half-seat with Sam Stagg rigging. Not a real major find, but it's maker's mark puts it in Chicago, and being from Illinois, I figured it was a good find. ;)

And yes, they ooze history. Along with eons of abuse and neglect, and scads of leftover saddle soap.
Just because you CAN ride the hide off a horse, doesn't mean you should.
