Howdy Pards,
First off thanks Knucklehead for everything, I need to ask you all a question? I am not sure how I am going to dye the bible cover I am making my dad, so i need to know how is the best way to dye treat and keep it from bleeding, I don't think anyone wants to pack a nice looking bible to church and it be oiling! I have been lucky with my way of treating so that my holsters or belts don't feel oilly! But I am only going to get one shot at this, so can i put a laquer spray over it?
All help will be apprerciated!

do not put laquer spray on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just dye it using feibengs dye or your homemade dye.

let dry use neat lac or tan kote or leather balm with atom wax.

or use what you use on your holsters. the holsters done feel oily do they?

or go to this website and download the video:

http://www.bee-natural.com/

this shows you how to finish toolled leather

Ace,

it would help everyone out here in webspace to know what you have for oils?

kinda hard to answer your question without knowing what you have on hand.

I thought i read somewhere about a sealer type stuff to put on leather before dying or painting on it.I love the stuff you guys do,i just don't have the patience i guess..I have got to try doin it someday though.

Gunclick,

read my first post to this question.

and follow the link to bee natural.

they have a video that you can download. it covers oiling leather then dying the leather then sealing the leather.

and bee natural products are easy to use. the customer service is top notch and they are fast at shipping stuff out

Knucklehead,
If it is a holster, I start with GT. then neatsfoot oil a coat of evoo, and then a mixture of neatsfoot and bees wax! I think I can get but with that, but the only other peice I have done in natural, , I used a very light and thin coat of the mixture of neatsfoot oil and bees wax! I keep it mad up in 3 ways, thin, med, and then a paste! The paste isn't as hard as saddle soap, and you put it on very lighly and then a good hand buffing!
