This gives you the right to make your opinion heard.  It takes 5 seconds - It is still a live link. You will need FLASH installed on your computer.

Our new Attorney General has already said firearm restriction is one of his major issues.

This takes literally 2 clicks to complete. Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. It will only  take a few seconds of your time. Then pass the link on to all the pro  gun  folks you know. Hopefully these results will be published later this month.. This upcoming year will become critical for gun owners with the  Supreme Court accepting the  District of Columbia  case against the right for individuals to bear arms.

First - vote on this one.  Second - send it to other folks and ask them to VOTE! - then we will see if the results get published. Vote in the USA Today poll - click on the link below.  The Question is: Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?  Vote here: Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two Flints,
I just wanted to offer my two cents worth on this one. I got into a long drawn out argument with someone from the NRA over a statement like this one. I am pro gun, but cannot answer the question. I don't believe the ammendment we are discussing GIVES ME ANY RIGHT AT ALL. Instead, it indicates the government will not tamper in any way with a right I already have. Voting on this question seems to give more weight to the constitution than it really has. If you vote yes, you are tellling the world that it is a piece of paper (or sheep skin) that gives me the right to bear weapons and if you vote no, you are saying maybe that right does not exist. It might be good for us to read the amendment prior to voting...

Just a thought..

Sgt. I understand where you are coming from.  According to the Framers of the Constitution the rights were God given and they were just affirming these rights.  However to be practical we need to show that that affirmation is for individuals and not a group such as the National Guard.  Just as the rest of the Bill of Rights.  Voting yes just acknowledges that.

Speaking as a High school Government teacher, the second amendment guarantees the right, that is why it is one of the "Bill of Rights" ammendments

Folks, Thanks for the replies!

Let me see if I get it now.  The right comes from God, is an individual right (I think the supreme court agreed with this sometime in the last year) and the second ammendment guarantees that our government shall not interfere with that right. Am I on the right track?

I think this concept is very serious and something everything gun owner (in fact every citizen of the US) should think long and hard about. If this ammendment is not supported by 'we the people' what will happen to all the others in the list we call the 'Bill of Rights'?

By the way, what do you do when someone wants you to surrender you Spencer simply because it can fire more than 6 rounds quickly???
