Hey pards, first off thanks very much for the prayers and well wishes. It's a couple of days shy of a month since the stroke. I am officating a wedding today (Saturday, May 2nd,) and preaching for the first time tomorrow. As I told Cowboy 316 in a PM, my speech is sounding close to normal to most people and even myself, when I record it. (For the first time in 25 years, I am practicing out loud what I am going to say Sunday) But when I talk, it sounds funny in my head, and it takes a real effort to get the words out. I am not singing or playing guitar well enough to resume that part of my life, but Ii'm working on it daily, and I trust it will come back.

I even shot one stage at the range, 10 pistol, 10 rifle, 4 shotgun, and man did that feel good. I've done some sewing on holsters now, so I am returning to leatherwork. I have more recovery to go, and my energy level still stinks, but overall I am one blessed guy to have so much ability come back in such a short time.

Thanks for your support guys, it really means a lot, JD

Thanks guys. The wedding went real well. The gal grew up in our church, and she married a soldier, headed to Korea in a month or so. Get them both away from in-laws! Now if I can make through tomorrow morning I'll be very grateful.

Well guys, I think this will be the last post concerning the "Speed Bump" of the stroke I had on April 4th. I had a great Sunday, (May 3rd) and was able to preach without much problem. We post all the messages on our church website www.sherwoodnewlife.org if anyone would care to hear it.

I've learned a lot of things in the last month, but more than anything I have developed a new empathy for people with life changing challenges. It's opened my eyes, and made me appreciate the things I have so much more. I sure have appreciated the support from this group of guys. It's really amazing, considering I've not met any of you face to face! Thanks! JD

Outstanding, JD. Glad to hear it went well. You sure are seeing this through the right eyes. There's nothing like a major challenge to give us new perspectives.
