Howdy Pards,
Got my last sheath done for awhile, I have a ton of things to do, and the old back just doesn't let me get much done, so I am going to try and get others things done so I can go back to Practing my carving!
I still have a lot to learn but, I think this is a little better than the last??
See What you think, you won't hurt my feelings!!

I think it looks nice as far as I can tell, practice makes all the difference. I know how you feel about the back, mine flared up about two months ago and has been killing me. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the kind words Pards!! I think I might not be cutting deep enough, or trying to work the leather before it is ready! I watched lots of video's about carving and also I read a lot about carving, but, i allways here the instructor say ( If you get a good swivel knife cut, when you go to bevel it will pop open, so far, I havn't had that happen, maybe on my next project! Got to get some guns put toghter. But I called my wood guy, he wasn't home and he hasn't call me, so I am allmost at a stop, so I might start on a set of spur straps! I got to get the buckles put on the other pair i made and get them shipped off.
Maybe my impression will stand out better next time!
Thanks Again for the kind words.

Ace, the sheath is great.  Carving is great the only thing I see is a couple of stiches might be off at the curve.  Any one of us here would love to have this.  Doing great work my friend.

Morning Ace. I'm up at 5am because of my back. Four days in the hospital bed really messed it up. I went to my bone cracker yesterday, but not any releif yet.

I think your carving is coming along nicely. People have told me to cut to half the depth of the leather. I generally make the cuts too shallow, or so Donna at Tandy says. She does a good job carving, so I try to follow her advice.

I'm going to try some stamping this morning, my first attempt at leatherwork since the stroke. The guitar playing is coming along, so I'm hopefull the stamping will be OK too. I'm not up to cutting anything out or carving, first things first I guess.

Good work, keep it up, JD

Howdy Ace,

That is a very nice looking sheath! Please don't be reluctant to post your carving work. It looks great!. I'm still trying to learn how to carve and I'm not anywhere close to what you can do.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

JD,
Any medical set back takes a long time to get over, you will make or you will do like me, and do what you can, no matter how much it hurts, and then rest! Thanks for the kind words! i wished I lived close to a Tandy store to take lessons, but I don't!

Johnny Old Pard,
How have you been? Are they working you to hard down at the Harley place!! I got to get a lot of stuff done, before I do anymore leather work, maybe, unless the wood guy keeps me held up! I am not saying I miss making my own stock's, but since I can't do that anymore, i hate waiting on people!
Thanks For the kind words!!

Probably just my personal opinion, Ace, but you might try larger spacing on the sewing. If nothing else, it will make for less sewing, but I think it will show errors less also. For what it's worth, I can't handle a swivel knife for crap either. That's why I mostly just do stamping.

Hey Bud,
Long time no talk!! I think you are right about the stitch lenght, that is the same lenght I have used on everthing, and I might try a wider stitch!
Talk to you later!
