Back in the early 90's when I first bought my matched pair of Ruger Vaqueros, I put stag horn grips on them even before I test fired them.  I paid around $60 a pair back then.  During the shortage of stag in recent times I noticed the price on stag had gone almost as high as ivory.  Sportsmens Guide is currently stocking real stag horn grips for Vaqueros and Blackhawks for $120 a pair.  They are also listing stags for 1911s for around $90.

I don't know Rick.  In the catalog it just said Vaqueros and Black hawks.  You could check their web site and/or give 'em a call.  They've always been square dealin' with me in the past.   ;)

I bought some of the Sportman Guide grips, and the quality was very poor. I sent them back.

Buck,

Well...  maybe that's why they're so cheap.   ???
Like I said, I bought mine back in the early 90's and they were from Ajax grips here in Dallas.  Mine are georgeous, well "barked" and the white portions have mellowed into a beatiful tan color.
Thanks for the input Buck2.
