I've been looking for some Pistol Lanyarns, mostly looking for Span- Am era type. I have been able to find WWI Brit and American type and the ultra modern tactical type. Some leads on reproduction type, or general information on length- material- color would be nice...Any help is apperiated

Look at photos of the WWI Colts...

The early lanyards were made of tightly-braided leather, differing primarily in the hook arrangement.

The larger hook is for the revolver - the smaller accomodates the much smaller lanyard loop as found on the M1911.

M1911 lanyards usually are of a braided cord - with a dated spring hook.

I know of no replica being made, but I'm sure that someone must be doing it for the WWI reenactment folks, though that one wouldn't be correct for your era.

Check with Steffan at Prairie Flower Leather. If he has an example (he's into WWI) he can make one. His contact info is in the GAF web sites links page.

Check with What Price Glory also.  He's got a correct (I think) lanyard for the revolvers, and the later ones for the 1911.  He's got a lot of neat stuff on his site.  I've bought a couple items from him and they were top notch.

Prior to the battle of Omdurman [Sept. 1998], Lt. Churchill arrived in Cairo without his pistol and lucky "silk lanyard."

So he bought one of those new fangled Mausers.  It probably saved his life; being a ten shooter.
