finaly got insperation to tool this western style cover.I goofed at finish

the basketweaving is all curving the same way so it actually gives a sense of movement to the piece,IMHO. I like it.
Beautiful warm glow to the color and finish as well.

Did you just take paper and draw that design? It is so Beautifull, I don't have that drawing talent.
I wished you luck that your idea works out the way you want it to, keep us up to date on how it comes out!

i have the book carving oak leaves from tandy leather factory.
i just use white paper that i can see through and lay it on each of the oak leave drawings untill i find the one that fits what im looking for.

the only thing i drew by hand on this design is the cross.

i redid this cover and its ready to stitch up.

this time i know it fits cause i layed the leather on the book and it fits.

the one i messed up on i will be turning it into a bible study notebook for a friend that goes to bible study every week.

right now i am in california doing army stuff. but will be home next week so i can finish it and post pics when done.

Hey Knucklehead,
That's a great looking Bible cover! Basket weave looks very nice and I really like the overlay leaves and cross. I know I get dizzy sometimes doing basket weaves, have to put it down and walk away. Between my eyes getting crossed and my hand getting cramped.
