Marshal Wil...is there anything that needs to be done to the steel (saw blade) other than cut it, grind it, and sharpen it??
I mean like some sort of heat treating or annealing, etc.....as you may have guessed, I'm no metalergist...heck, I can't even spell it. ::)

I've never done anything to the steel to make it anything, other than being careful to keep from annealing with the grinding. I suppose their may be a better hardness for it but I don't have the capability and it isn't worth the cost to get it heat treated.

Wow, that's a great looking knife. I bought a nice round knife and found it very helpful for skiving and for more general cutting when I had a larger working area. Trying to use one when room is tight is a recipe for an ER co-pay. I tell everyone the scar on the web of my thumb is from a dog bite. :)

I finally got my knife sharpened. I started with a 100 grit stone then flipped it over to the other side which is 400 grit. Next I started on the 1000 grit side of my Japanese water stone and finally finished it with the 6000 grit side. It sure took an edge. I tried it out and it looks like it might take some practice to get the hang of it.

OK, so you figured out that the photo was for fun, but it did take an edge very nicely. ;D

You're probably in business there, C3. Time will tell on that. Then you can round up a box of bandaids, too. ;D
