Picked up an 1858 Brass Frame Remington in 36 caliber from Prairie Dawg. Bottom of grip frame is marked "EIE Italy". Date code puts date of manufacture in 1972. Lots of endplay. Will need a bushing fore and aft on cylinder and either a new bolt or peen the bolt window as the lockup is rather loose. May not be worth the effort, but I always love to tinker on these guns. Anyway, does anyone have any info on EIE, their quality, parts availability or interchange, etc.?  And once again, it is not "FIE". It is definitely marked "EIE" ???

I would really like to see a picture of these markings.  I am inclined to believe that this is a poorly marked FIE.  Is there a PR on the butt as well?  Also, FIE bought up the EIG inventory when EIG went out of business.  EIG poorly marked could come out EIE.

I think he has this pistol for sale over on the SASS classifieds.

Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

That is a neat looking gun. It may shoot fine as it is.
