KOOTENAY COWBOY

HOWDY SIR CHARLES:
I thought I might start a new thread concerning Kootenay Brown.
My Fathers partner knew of Brown as well as Jerry Potts. These men were always referred to by their
last names. My Fathers partner was Cecil Smith. Smith ended up here by way of the Dewdney Trail.
The partnership with Smith centered around Game Guiding in the East Kootenay.
I spent the  years of the late 40's early 50' on a 1/2 section at the base of Baker mountain Cranbrook.
Gold Creek ran thru our property. Smith and my Dad had three camps with the main territory being the White Swan basin.
The main cabin was at White Tail lake with two camps at white swan and the Flat Head.
I can't recall the whole story as in those days it was just casual conversation around a coal oil lamp.
Smith came this way with his parents up from the US. North Dakota/Montana area. They passed thru Weyburn and Assiniboia
They traded with American Sioux at Assiniboia for different goods and I still have two Rawhide Saddles Smith gave my father just before he died 30 years ago. If you/all ever pass thru Salmo Bc. Stop into the local museum as I donated them after I got them.
Like everything else there is a lot more to this story but no time.
So Deputy which of the Victoria CAS do you/all compete with.
KEEP YOUR POWDER DRY :)
