that holds the flap shut on military holsters:  what's it called, where do I get it, does it come in nickel, and how do you install it?

Thanks you.

Sam Browne post? I get mine thru Tandy, and they sell a little setter to install them. Works great!

You have to watch when you buy as some of them have the post attached to the ball-end and a washer much like a copper rivet. These work well but are harder to set and can be easily broken while setting.

I think all that Tandy sells is the style with the ball side having the hole. This, in my opinion, is what you want.

Howdy
They are a Sam Browne button stud if they are the correct size for police gear, other sizes are just button
studs. They come as a rivit on or a screw back.
From Tandy, the Sam Brownes come nickle or brass and are rivit on. The screwbacks are Gilt or nickle in 2 sizes,
5/16 or 3/8 base.

The Sam Brown button is also called a "fineal".  The Leather Factory does have them in both nickle and brass.  Stock # 1309-01 Brass and 1309-02 Nickle,  The stud anvil (set tool) is stock # 8112-00.
