Hi Y'all,

I just bought a used Uberti Remmy off GunBroker, so there's no manual.  I started to remove the cylinder, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right.  Put it in half cock, depress the cross pin and pull out the spindle, like a Colt?  I don't know if it's just stiff, or I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks,

I assume youve got and 1875. Just Open the  the loading gate and with the hammer at half cock depress tha cross pin and retract the cylinder  pin. Some times you may  have to take your thumb and pull back on the hammer a little as you rotate the cylinder in or out. It should just drop out.

Hi Y'all,

Yes.  It's a Navy Arms/Uberti 1875 Army model, now Outlaw, in .44-40.

Finally got the cylinder pin to come on out.  Just stiff.  I figured as much, but on the other hand, it's wiser to double check with somebody who knows than do something stupid out of a misplaced confidence.  I've had to buy parts for that before.  Actually, it could stand to be stripped down and thoroughly cleaned, inside and out.  Bore looks pretty good though.  There may be a little very light pitting in a couple of spots, but I think it may be leading and it'll brush out.

I'm pretty excited.  This gives me a Colt, a Schofield and a Remington now.  I plan on getting some pals together and having a shootout to compare the 3.

Thanks,

Here's my technique:
1) pull cyl pin
2) slowly lift hammer from rest
3) Roll cylinder out to right side.

Reassemble same, except roll cylinder in from left to right.

Slim
