I need load recommendations for a Pedersoli .45 cal Kentucky Rifle percussion.   Also need load recommendations for a .58 cal Remington Zouave Rifle replica.

Thanks for any information

Target load for my Pedersoli .54 cal Tryon rifle is 60 gr ffg Goex or Grafs/Scheutzen, .535 roundball and .010 Ox Yoke original lubed patch that's been anointed with Hoppe's #9 plus BP solvent.  Rifle shoots all day long with last ball loading as easily as the first.  Very accurate out to about 80 yds.  Anything over that I bump the powder up to 80 gr ffg so it maintains the same POA.

this rifle is about 20 yrs old and has had uncounted thousands of rounds through it so YMMV.

as to the Zouave - I haven't the foggiest.

The service load for any of the 58 Caliber rifled muskets is 60 grs.  I think they used Fg, but FFg should also be fine.

I`ve been shooting patched round balls out of my Zouave carbine , 65grs of 2F Goex .575 round ball and a .018 lubed patch ..shoots very accurate only was a little high ( 4 inches high ) ...I filed the V notch deeper on the rear site to get POA ..
I`ve never shot any Minnies out of mine , I figured the bowling ball size ball was plenty of knock down . ;D

Here's a fun load for small game around the ranch.  I load 30 grains of FFFg Schuetzen under an EPP-UG 150 grain bullet in my Thompson Center Seneca 45 Cal rifle.  It's a tack driver.  The little EPP-UG was made to emulate a round ball, but needs no patch or lube other than that carried by the groove.  Here's the interesting part.  Being a true Big Lube™ bullet, my front stuffer never looses accuracy.

I've not shot it more than 50 yards, but at that distance off a concrete bench it'll put 'em inside a 1" circle.

I have a Pedersoli TRYON back action rifle in .45  It was my match rifle when I was buckskinnin'  It never - ever gave me an alibi.  In fact it was embarassing when it showed me up as just a so-so shot.

My load was anywhere between 45 and 70 grains of GOEX FFFg.  I cast balls from an RCBS 440 RB mould, using wheel weight metal and they come out at .442".  I patch with .0012 thick washed cotton lubed with saliva.

As I recall my best target load was 60 grains. You will have to try loads, I'd suggest 50, 60, and 70 gr of FFFg for targets, varmits, small game, etc.  A deer load would be between 80 and 100 gr, but maybe closer to the 80.

Good shooting.

Thanks for the info y'all.  Anyone have a suggested load for 2f or do I have to use 3f in the .45.  Its was a wall hanger thats not been shot in many years but everything functions well and as far as i can tell has a very clean bore this gun is 95% atleast.  The guy I got it from knew none of the details it was just a wall hanger for him.

A "Wall-hanger"?  Pedersoli's are regular prize winners at European muzzle loading matches.  This baby needs to be shot!

Got a picture?

+1.  Not shooting it a lot is borderline criminal
