Over the years I have observed many replica percussion revolvers that have the Colt Address on top of the barrel.  I have collected a few stories about these and would like to hear from anyone who has an idea on the history of these markings.

I have several revolvers made by Armi San Marco that have the Colt Address marking on top of the barrel of octagon barrels (1851 Navy) and round barrels (1860 Army), and on the top of the barrel flat on Dragoons & Walkers.  These are exact size & font on both the original 1st Generation and 2nd & 3rd Gen Colts.

Any Roman numerals stamped into the right side of the frame?

Shortly after I bought a Colt 2nd Gen. 3 model Dragoon in 1981.
I bought a Walker from Mid South Shooting Supply, I honestly don't recall whether it was a Uberti or ASM but it was marked with the Colt one line address.
It was a very nice gun though, both guns were in my pommal holsters and stolen at the Olustee Battle Reenactment  >:(

I do know Colt cried foul and threaten suit if the Italians contenued use of the address line (these were the remaining barrels from the 3rd Gen. so called Gray box series Colts

I have run across a couple of Italian guns with the address on the barrel, but usually there was a mis-spelling in the Colt name and it said COTL or something to that effect.
