For the last few years I've been using my 1873s in CAS matches while my '66 has been gathering dust. So I thought it would be fun to show it a little love.

Though you won't see it on this video, at the end of the day the screw that holds the barrel band/front sight tight broke, sending my point of impact all over the place. I ordered a new band/screw from Long Hunter, I I should have it back in action soon.

Good vid thar Mike, the only thing bad about watchin it is that here where I sit in Ol' Ioway, is that the sun is settin, so I can't take my 66 out and shoot it. If I did, I'd have to sift through the snow to find the brass, unless I find the widest brim hat in my collection. ;D  It did fire me up though to want to take my 66 and either a cap an ball or one of my 44 conversions to my river shootin area and 'rock and roll'!!! Back in  2008, I was tryin to figure out whether to get a 66 and '72 Open Top in 44 Colt or 44 Spec as I was unsure how the 66 would cylce the 44 Colts. I wrote to you in care of GOTOW. You suggested the 44 Spec (as you advised I could shoot both through the guns) and I ordered both through Cimarron in that caliber. That was me if you remember the letter and responce. I ordered 500 rds of brass of each caliber from Starline and started loading the 44 Colts with black powder and the 44 Spec with smokless. Still follow that today, although I rarely shot Specials through them anymore, sticking to the 44 Colt with black. So far I haven't had any cyclling problems in the 66. Hope to try some 44 Spec with black, maybe this spring. ;D Thanks for the video and all your feedback.  Crow Choker
Note: I've never caught a expended brass in my hat, but I did catch a 22 long rifle bullet that bounched off some frozen ground, bounced up into some trees, and then fell back and landed on my old camo huntin hat. I tipped my hat down and caught the deformed 22 bullet in my hand. Swear to it, had three witnesses, went back to town and told of the incident and everyone asked if we had consumed to much  bad 'houch'!!  ;D :o Still have the bullet, only time I've ever been shot!!!!! :-[ ::)
