Ol Gabe

Sirs, Staff & Etc.,
As I watched the Inauguration Parade this Tuesday past, a camera mounted on a vehicle showed the Presidential limo and then panned to the left scanning the crowd and buildings. The large building it showed must have been the Canadian Embassy as it was festooned with many flags of that country, and on the steps leading up a contingency of the RCMP stood in a 'V' at full attention saluting the Presidential limo. What an impressive moment, and yet sadly, nobody acknowledged it in our media.
However, I would like say a big "Thank you Canada!" for your support and recognition.
Best regards and Good Luck!

Canada is a great ally of ours.  The Mounties are a great Law Enforcment agency.

Dutchy,
You would have been proud seeing them, the TV image lasted only a few seconds so I couldn't really get a head count, but I think there were 6 on a side of the 'V' and all were in the traditional red coat and black pants with the Mountie hat we all recognize, and each arm and hand positioned in a perfect salute.
Where were you stationed at and how many years did you serve? I'm sure all of us Mil-history buffs here would like to read some of your memories and exploits from the service and how you got to be a Corporal, that is if you'd be willing to share them with us.
Thanks for your service time and Good Luck!

Glad they were able to take part. I bet the party afterward would be something  NOT to tell your Mother. ;D
I did 35 years as a LEO , heck  the statute of limitations  is still active on some of the stuff I did!!  ;D
Likely end up in the stockade if I ever owned up to it. ::)
Nice to see so many of the old dawgs on this board and enjoying the fun!
Looking back it seems pretty tame stuff compared to what the young ones are into now .
Bless em all .

Living the dream..

The Force has been at that sort of thing for quite some time .....   ;D

Here are some of the members of the contingent sent in 1897 to Great Britain for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee (celebrating the 60th year of her reign) by what was then the North West Mounted Police -
