Howdy Fellars,
I have as my mentor and he has told me what he thinks I should do, and I believe him! I am only going to get one shot at this, so I just want to open up every ones opinion on this. I am making a Shoulder Holster for a Lemon squezzer. And I need to match the color of his rig he is whereing now, and this is a color i have never dealt with, Rod has told me he thinks it is just natural, but i need to know how to get the colorand the shine on it. I am going to post a pic, and if you guys can give me your opoinon, i will be great full!
Thanks

Take some leather scraps from the same hide and experiment a little.  First try coating it with some neatsfoot oil and then finish with some Tandy Satin Shene.  You might also test some Fiebing's Saddle Tan.  This can be cut some dye solvent or rubbing alcohol to various shades.

Once you come up with some possible samples, show it to the customer and let him pick.  It's very hard to get an exact match on a used rig.  You also have to remember that an older rig has been exposed to the sun and the color of the new leather work will change a little once it gets some use.

on some scrap of the same leather your workin with id try some of the skidmores leather cream and let it set in the sun for a bit then to get the shine use the tandys tan cote and put a few coats on then use a real soft cloth and buff the tar out of it

Howdy Ace
It looks like oil and sunshine and a gloss finish to me.

Thanks WC,
That is what TW told me! and he is my mentor, and has never steered me wrong! I am just trying to do my very best, that I can do!
I take a lot of pride in my work, and that is what has kept me from carving! I have no self confendence in a area where I think you have to have some artist ability.
Thanks for all the help guys!
