Welcome Don, from a fellow newbie!

S

Don Nix

Thanks for the welcome, I have tried a half dozen times to join this forum  and no success until now.
Any way just wanted to say hi.
I have owned Remington clones for over twenty years now .
I have two Navy Arms 1858 's and a EMF (uberti) fully engraved 1875 45 .

Ive spent a lifetime in the cowboy trade as a saddlemaker, stockmanand I retired from the Sheriffs dept wher besides my other work I handled all the livestockcases and headed up the mounted unit.
For a awhile I even carried the 1875 on duty . More for show ( I always had a 1911 tucked away)than anything else but i did sue it as my off duty carry.

I am a saddlemaker and over the yaers I have built  saddles for folks all over the country and a couple to europe and done restorations for some museums.
anyway thats who i am and I have been raeding this site and learning.
Last night i used the knowledge from this site to antique my 1858s.
They came out great ,,and now look 150 years old.
Thanks again.

Don,

Glad to hear those '58's came out good for you...I would like to do one myself sometime. There is alot of great information on this site and even more pards that can help out along the way.

Wearing an 1875 on duty in modern day.....now that will get some attention and respect!! ;D

It did cause a stir. But then thats why I did it. You have to go thru life with a little style.
. I am going to try and post a couple pictures.
The first is the duty rig I wore  as the CID supervisor with my Colt series 70 and the Remington. They were interchangeable on the belt.
The other photo is the 1875 and the two 1858s that I antiqued last night.
