73 Winchester Breech Block Removal

I just purchased a new  Uberti 73 Winchester. The breech block removes differently than the old Uberti's. Before you had to remove the firing pin stop pin in order to remove the firing pin extension and breech block from the rifle. There is no longer a firing pin stop pin. How do I remove the breech block out of this new style setup? Looks to me like I may have to remove the rear link pin. The one in my new one  is in solid. Any ideas?

You would have thought the diagram that came with the rifle would have been an up-to-date one. It wasn't. I thought one would have to punch out the rear link pin. As I mentioned before the pin seems to be in there very tight, but what's new. I think all of the screws were tightened by a 600 pound gorilla. At least they are trying to make it stronger.
I had read one of FCK's posts where he said it was possible to have the firing pin extension come out the back end. Hope this change takes care of that possible problem

The "new" Breach Block and Extension Rod assembly eliminate the possibility of the extension rod being stopped by your face in the event of an out of battery discharge.  Very nice.
Disassembly is by driving the link pivot pin out of the Breach Block, left to right.  Slide the "rocker" down out of the Breach Block, paying attention to the way it came out.  It only works "one way."  Do the reverse for reassembly.
While you have it apart, consider cleaning up the firing pin and replacing the return spring with a light one.  Also check the Breach Block end of the Extension Rod for fit in the back of the Breach Block.  If it's tight or drags, fit and polish appropriately.
The change to the assembly is a welcome one!!

Thanks for the information. The pin must have a slight taper or the holes are tapered. I assume the left to right pin removal is with the rifle facing away from you.
