Morning,
Was on VTI's website yesterday looking for lighter strength mainsprings for both my Remingtons and my 72 Open Tops. Didn't see anything other than what appears to be their stock spring. Emailed them and haven't heard back yet. Wondering if anyone knows if VTI that has lighter mainsprings for both of the above. Thanks.

VTI has lighter mainsprings for the 58 Remington.  However, they are only good for cartridge conversions.  Don't have enough smack for cap and ball.  Any mainspring for a Colt Single Action will fit the 72s.  May need a little minor fitting, but pretty much any Colt or Colt clone spring will work.  The Lee and Wolff both work well in the 72s.  Both are available from Brownells, Midway and others.

If you look at gunsprings.com (Wolff) website, you will see the Uberti Regulator listed under SAA Colt.  You want that mainspring, as it's a bit shorter than the Colt or Hartford.  If you get the Colt mainspring, you will have to shorten it, use the original as a guide.

Regulator is an old Uberti name that is now called the Cattleman, I believe.

EMF has lightened mainsprings for the 75 Remington, and they'll fit the 58 as well.  They work GREAT in Ubertis, less well in Piettas.

I've re-ground and/or bent factory springs for dozens of Colt and Remington clones to lighten-em up.
The Remmies are easier since you have the screw to help adjust the tension. The cartridge-conversion NM Remington works well with the tension backed off the screw. If we shoot C&B, the screw gets tightened.
