Howdy!
Looking to buy or find out how to make some black powder blanks for a 45-60 1876 chapparal.  I've read somewhere that 45-70 blanks were used in "Tombstone" in their 45-60.  I've not been able to find any 45-60 blanks online despite emails to several blank making comapnies in the US.  I would like the blanks to actually load from the mag tube if possible.  Any ideas here?

I worked for a bullet and reload company a few years back.  We got an order to make blanks for 30-40 Krag for a national guard commerical (Teddy charging up San Juan Hill).  We made them from stock Winchester brass with powder charge/paper wad/wax seal.  To make them feed in the Krags we used a smaller diameter (280 - 7mm rings a bell) to round (crimp) the case mouth.  We had no feeding problems during the filming -- I think we made around 2500.

The same may work for you Chappy--I've been using cut down 45-70 gov cases for my reloads ----since the OAL for 45-60 is to be 2.25 why not run a 45-70 into a 45-60 die to give you the 'neck' then use a 45 ACP or 45 Colt crimp die for the rounded mouth.

Good luck
