1875 Remington "Army Outlaw"

I bought a pair of brand new Uberty (1875 Remington Army Outlaws 7.5" barrels in 45 LC) a couple of weeks ago and right out of the box the hammer on one would not stay back in the full cocked position most of the time and on the other one the same problem occured about one third of the time.  I know, why did I buy them? Seemed like a good idea at the time.  The store sent them straight to the gunsmith, my question is, is this common and do you think this is going to be a re-occuring problem once they are fixed?

Sorry to hear of yer miss-fortune!

There is not much difference in the lock work of any of the Remington clones and they are all pretty reliable (other than the occaisonal hand/bolt spring failure). Hopefully this is all that is wrong.

I think you'll be happy as a clam after you get them back!

Wiley,  First time I have heard of that problem occuring.   Did you get them from EMF?  One thing you might also consider doing is buying new main springs as the ones Uberti ships the guns with are usually way too stiff, making cocking more difficult than it should be.  You can get a new lighter mainspring from VTI gun parts,  online.

        I had a similar problem with my 75's, and they were 7 1/2" barrels and 45 long colt too, the link below will give you some insite to what was wrong , and the easy fix, just scroll down to my post. Mine wouldn't cock or the hammer would fall, I was told this was a flaw in the later production of the 75's by Uberti, but once fixed they're Beauty's.

Ten Wolves that might be the problem thanks for the info it will be interesting to see what the gunsmith says I hope to be getting those pistolas back pretty soon.  Looking mighty forward to using them at a cowboy shoot.

Thanks for the replies pards.  Got both pistols back from the store today they are working ok but haven't done a live fire test yet.  Didn't get to talk to the gunsmith as they had been sent out to him from the store, however I was told the problem was related to the seer (not sure of spelling).
