Will USFA still make an SAA with a barrel length over 7 1/2 inches if you specify the barrel length?
I'd personnally like to be the proud owner of two Buntlines with 8 inch barrels. 8)

The last I heard from Gary was 12" barrels were available for special orders.  I am hoping so because I want to add that barrel length to my Rodeo and Premium SAA collection.  When we spoke, my understanding was that 12" barrels were just not going to be a standard offering, but for special orders only on select models.

1 of the 19 original Colt SAA Carbines was ordered with a 10" barrel, and it's been said that, used as a revolver, this length is much more manageable than any longer barrelled versions.

In fact that 10" Carbine was sent to S. A. Hart's gunshop in Tombstone, AZ Territory in 1882.

I wonder WHO ended up with it?  ;D

Well no secret there! ;)
Lee Van Cleef made extensive use of his 10 inch Buntline Special in For a Few Dollars More, but I found out something even more impressive. The Colt used by El Indio in the same movie was also a Buntline Special but it had an 8 inch barrel. Now in a Western story that I'm still writing, the villian carries two of these guns. Now I know somebody who will special order a nickel plated SAA with an 8 inch barrel for me, but I need to know if USFA will make that gun a reality as well.
A work in progress.

Possibly it was Buckskin Frank Leslie, as I have read that he so admired Wyatt Earp that he ordered a 10" like Wyatt's. Of course, when it comes to that subject, who really knows??

Of course remember that the records show ONLY 1:19 SAA Carbines being made up in 10" barrel length.

And remember also that that version uses a different Frame.  Oh, and a thicker/heavier barrel also.  (Good for thumpin miscreants on the head)

That doesn't mean that somebody couldn't have ordered a "regular" SAA with a 10" barrel.

However the records indicate that a surprisingly SMALL number of those were ever ordered. :o
