You know, if you really wanted a .44, you could have easily found one. Cimarron is not the only outlet. There is also Taylor's, Dixie Gun Works and Gunbroker. They show up in stock at DGW.

I only wanted a Cimarron. A 44 would have been my first choice, but I'm happy with the 38.

Griffith,

After you get your Open Top set up, consider this.  You have THE most VERSATILE single action on the planet.  First peruse Pettifoggers tutorial over on "The Open Range" paying particular attention to correcting the Barrel to Arbor fit.  Then if you desire, at a later date, and after saving up your box tops, you can purchase Barrels and Cylinders for all the calibers the Open Top is offered.  .45 (I don't recommend the 45) and .44.  Once the Barrel to Arbor fit has been corrected, additions will install with only minor fitting.

I have a pair of 44special 1872 Open Tops
I found a full load of 3fff APP with a 200 gr Lee bullet is a handful to shoot .

I soon switched to 44 Russian's and like it much more .
Also probably a lot closer to 44 Rimfire anyway.
