Hmmm, I guess the barrel is not "free floating" anymore!  ;D ;)  Man, that's a good question. The only thing I can think of is to remove the forearm and add coats of Truoil (linseed oil w/ dryers) building up the surface a frog hair at a time. Maybe our NSSA guys who post here can pitch in as perhaps they've seen this happen with musket barrel bands.  ???

I think Brownell's or Midway sell brass/copper strips in various thicknesses that could be cut to size and inserted between the barrel and wood stock to take up some of the slack/existing space between the barrel and wood until the correct thickness is reached.

Glass bed the front wood and replace/file front sight blade for correct point of aim.

i think that is way to go i packed it a bit more ,put slight upward presure on front, one of fist things i did was file down front sight and put a removable brass blade in ,i was hoping to avoide glass beding but i carnt see any alternative

Appalachian Ed

You don't want any pressure on any part of the barrel. Bedding is probably your only alternative.

Glass bedding is the permanent cure. Be sure to apply the release agent properly!   Hoot
