Shotshells

I just loaded a few shotshells using the recipe on Hodgens websight for Triple 7 powder. I used the amounts of powder and shot it recommends, along with the Winchester (Claybuster) red wad, and AA hulls. When I do the final crimp, it leaves a ring in the hull, which sticks out the side of he hull. The ring is about 2/3 of the way down the hull toward the brass base. Is this going to be a problem shucking out of a side by side? Or, do you think I'm putting in too much shot or powder causing the hull to mash when I crimp. I'm loading on a Lee Load-All.

Try ironing out the ring by running them thru the sizing ring again.  If I remember right, you can do this with a loaded shell.  Otherwise, a MEC Sizemaster will re-shape the shell.

The new and very shiny AA hulls aren't exactly the same inside volume as the old one piece ones.  You may have to put in just a few less pellets to reduce the load column height.

Also, you may be able to do a roll crimp on your existing loads.  I prefer a roll crimp on used hulls.

I've never used a load-all but I load a lot on my MEC's.
If I had that problem I would look at my crimping die adjustments. Try adjusting your dies to lengthen the overall length of your finished cartridges.
My 2 cents and worth exactly what you paid for it.
