My father gave me two IJ pocket pistols today, one nickle and one blued.

They are hammerless with a trigger set-up like a modern glock and are both 32 s&w.

They look very shootable (bores look good and cylinder chambers look good) but need some work to operate correctly.

They are in the 40000 number range - one is 42xxx, and another 47xxx.

Anyone know if these are modern powder capable or bp only??

I got word from my gunsmith that the two old Iver Johnson pistols - both in disrepair - have given birth to a completely working IJ pocket pistol.

Hope to pick her up soon and give her a test fire.

Well the two old pistols did give birth to a working one.

It turns out that the both were 4th model guns - funny enough the one that is in bad condition has perfect grips and the one that is now a shooter has cracked grips.

I will fix that predicament this weekend.

The one that has a nickel finish - the cylinder is flaking badly is a shooter.  The action has now been smoothed and it is quite reliable with smokeless and smokey ammo.

Now I just need to figure out how to carry it.

Try this shoulder holster  http://www.riverjunction.com/catalog/leather/holsterssholder.html
this is an inexpensive copy of the Texas or Wesley Hardin type. If you want a custon fit
it's very easy to modify. I contured 2 of these holsters one to form fit my 1849 and one to
fit my Iver Johnson. Now I really didn't need to do that but I liked the custom fit look.
Cousin we been ashooten at each other all day! How about we stop for a beer then we kin go home and get our axes. Or just as good, lets forget this whole dang feud, I'm agetten too old for this anyhow!
